Darya Arefi

Darya Arefi is a queer Iranian American writer from Michigan working in sustainability. She studied Mechanical Engineering with concentrations in creative writing, sustainable engineering, and energy at the University of Michigan and completed an MFA in Creative Writing at West Virginia University. She received the University of Michigan College of Engineering Cooley Writing Prize for Fiction and Nonfiction. They’re a Voices of our Nation Arts (VONA) Foundation and TinHouse Writer’s Workshop fellow. Her writing has appeared in Poetry Online, Pidgeonholes, and Midwestern Gothic.
